Teen Rally - May 31, 2014
The HBC teens hosted a rally with evangelist Adam Davis and his team of helpers. The event began with pizza followed by team meetings and games. The Alpha team and Delta team battled it out throughout the day to earn points. They competed in games, a poster contest, and a cheering contest. The games included Frisbee dodge ball, crazy relays, bucket kick ball, eating contests, and a bubble blowing contest. There was song time and also time in God's word. The first message was from Philippians 3. The message was entitled "5 reasons why Paul's Relationship with God was exciting"
- His relationship with God was personal.
- His relationship was filled with power.
- His relationship had a price.
- His relationship had a purpose.
- His relationship was his #1 priority.
The second message was entitled "Doing great things for God"
The text was 1 Samuel 17. The story of David and Goliath is very well known but we tend to forget that there were battles that David had to fight even before he faced the giant.
- His response to authority v.12
He had already killed a lion and a bear and already knew that he would one day be king, yet he obeyed his father to do a delivery for his father
- Self-discipline v.20
He got up early and made sure his responsibilities were taken care of while he was away.
*if we can't be disciplined in the small things we won't get to do the great things for God
- Being dissatisfied with the world v.23
When Goliath was mocking God, David didn't know why no one was doing anything about it. He chose to resist the mockery
- Opposition from those around you v.28
Sometimes the ones opposing us are the ones we thought were fighting on our side
- Motivation vs. 29 & 42
We have to ask the question: why am I doing what I am doing?
There were 3 awards given for the teens who had the most visitors present at the rally. The awards were given to Anna with 2 guests, Jeremy with 4 guests and Mary with 6 guests.
The winning team for the rally was the Delta team!
