The Lord certainly blessed us with a beautiful day for this year’s Mother’s Day brunch which had an apron theme. A good number of our church ladies and girls attended along with quite a few guests. After everyone enjoyed a plentiful and delicious brunch, we played a fun memory game where we had to remember different kitchen items that had been attached to an apron. Next, Kathi Banholzer, who did a terrific job in planning and organizing today’s event, read a short history of the apron. Beth Oliver then presented a humorous yet thought- provoking skit which contrasted the difference between the world’s view and God’s view of the “perfect mother.” Becky Cox followed through with the apron theme in her thoughtful and practical devotional. She said that just as we put on a physical apron before we begin work in the kitchen, we also need to put on a spiritual and mental apron before we attempt to do service to and for the Lord. She reminded us that God is always willing to help us and that we do a much better job when we ask for and accept His help. Our bodies and souls were indeed fed and refreshed today.
