Doves

Ladies' Dove Fellowship September 16, 2023 Becky Mills' House Becky Mills hosted the Fall Dove Fellowship at their lovely home in the country. She had everything decorated so pretty.

Fourteen of us ladies and girls got together at the Mills’ house from 3 to 6 PM on Saturday, September 16. It was a special privilege to have Amie Dwire attend the fellowship. Our church has supported the Dwires in Uganda for a number of years. Amie reached out and was friendly to everyone there. It was great to see her again, and we are glad that she, her husband, Dan, and their son Eric arrived early on Saturday afternoon, so that Amie could attend the Dove fellowship.

The Lord gave us a beautiful sunny day. When we arrived, we all sat in Becky‘s living room and just chatted for a while. Then we ate the delicious food that the ladies brought, including sandwiches, chicken, crab dip, chips and salsa, cheese and pepperoni, crackers, chocolate cookies, and a lovely fall pound cake that Becky Mills made.

After we ate, Allison Estabrook gave a devotional. She spoke on 1Thessalonians 5:21 and 22, which urges us to live holy lives, and to abstain from the appearance of evil. Allison gave a wonderful challenge based especially on her recent experiences, while attending a secular college and trying to live as a Christian young lady should, for God’s glory. It was wonderful to hear her testimony, as well as references to many verses in the Bible that support the fact that we should love the Lord Jesus, and live for Him, seeking to point others to the Savior. Allison talked about how the Lord has been teaching her that she can reach out in friendship to people, even if they are very different “on the outside” than she would be. She also talked about depending on the Lord, Who can help us in very challenging situations.

After the devotional time, we continued visiting together. Before we left, Becky Mills offered each person a bar of homemade soap for us to take home.

Our next Dove fellowship will be held at the church fellowship hall on Saturday, December 9, at 10:30 in the morning. It will be a Christmas Dove Fellowship. We hope that you can be there.
